Ingredients 

  • 1 can 16 oz black beans mashed(use a fork, morter, ladle etc…)
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 4 slices swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup da Giulia Tomato basil
  • 1 cup da Giulia Marinara
  • 3 teaspoons canola oil

Directions

  1. In pan heat 1 teaspoon canola oil, saute onion for 5 minutes
  2. remove from heat
  3. in bowl combine all ingredients except for canola oil and marinara
  4. when mixture thoroughly combined, form into 4 patties
  5. put in freezer for 30 minutes
  6. heat remaining oil on medium, cook patties 5-7 minutes on each side until browned and slightly crispy
  7. top with cheese and  put lid on pan for 5 minutes until cheese is melted
  8. remove and place on bun, top with da Giulia Marinara

The sodium is high because of the beans, it  has been documented if  you rinse can products very thoroughly 1/3 of the sodium is eliminated.  I love the Tomato Basil because it is extremely low in sodium 15mg per serving.  I try never to add salt anymore to any dish I am making with the da Giulia products.  Garlic powder is a great option. Lots of flavor and trace amount of sodium only.
